Right now, I'm an old fan helping out a friend with research on prehistoric Texas eras.

I came into fandom through comics but fell into SF and eventually into weird fiction fandom. I was active in the Houston Comic Collectors Association (1967-72), the Houston Science Fiction Society (1969-72), the Austin University of Texas SF Society (1973-75), and the early days of the Fandom Association of Central Texas. I was on the con committee for a couple of early Southwesterncons, ran the huxters' room for one of the first Armadillocons, and served as the Co-Chair of the 4th World Fantasy Convention in Ft. Worth in 1978. Between 1979 and 1983, my wife Sally and I were probably best known in Texas as the fans who threw the huge Halloween parties in Austin. From 1988 to 2006, we ran The Austin Collectors Exposition, a large multi-collectibles event that included vintage SF, movie posters, etc.

I also contributed to several fanzines in the 70s and early 80s. Joe Pumilia and I co-wrote a series of parodies using the nom de pulp M.M. Moamrath. Other writers added to the "Moamrath Mythos" and the stories were published in Tom Reamy's NICKELODEON, Fenner and Cadigan's SHAYOL, and a number of other books and zines.

Mostly for me, SF fandom was the basis of some deep friendships and a very intense era for creativity and free thought. The good times were amazing and some of my best friends became famous.
