-Mr Scales was more than usually a victim of bad or at least inconsistent typing. In the ''[[Operation Fantast]] Trading Supplement'' of July 1948 he is ''''F. V. A. Scales''''. In the SFS membership list in contained in ''[[Science Fantasy News]]'' #2 he is ''''E. V. A. Scales'''', and in the list in #5 he is ''''B. V. A. Scales''''. We have no idea which, if any, is actually correct.
-He does not appear in the ''[[Directory of Science Fiction Fandom]]'' of 1955, just as well as the odds are that this would have introduced another variant.
