'''B. V. A. Scales''' was a [[UK]] [[fan]] from Portsmouth active in the 1940s. He was a member of the [[Science Fantasy Society]] (SFS).

Mr Scales was more than usually a victim of bad or at least inconsistent typing. In the ''[[Operation Fantast]] Trading Supplement'' of July 1948 he is ''''F. V. A. Scales''''. In the SFS membership list in contained in ''[[Science Fantasy News]]'' #2 he is ''''E. V. A. Scales'''', and in the list in #5 he is ''''B. V. A. Scales''''. We have no idea which, if any, is actually correct.

He does not appear in the ''[[Directory of Science Fiction Fandom]]'' of 1955, just as well as the odds are that this would have introduced another variant.
