[[Australian]] [[fan]] Bert F. Castellari attended Randwick Intermediate High School and while there struck up a friendship with [[William D. Veney]], [[Ron Brennan]], and [[Ron Lane]].

All four were [[fans]] and, in 1937 while still at school, produced ''[[Spacehounds]]'', a handwritten publication that featured [[fan fiction]]. While it only ran for ten weekly issues and a single "quarterly" issue, it attracted the attention of other [[fans]] and led to the publication of other [[fanzines]].

He was also the first editor of the ''[[Futurian Observer]]'' and the perpetrator of the [[Sydcon]] [[hoax]].
