Robert Rankin is a British writer of humorous fiction, a mixture of SF, fantasy, occult, urban legends and steampunk. Most books are set in Brentford, a suburb in West London where grew up. He had a fanclub Sproutlore which published a clubzine The Brentford Mercury and ran a Rankin focussed convention Brentcon 1 until 2009. Its replacement Order of the Golden Sprout seems to have been still-born.
He is an amateur artist.
