Eric Stanley Rabkin is an Ann Arbor academic known for his reference book, The Fantastic in Literature (1976).
He is the Arthur F. Thurnau Professor Emeritus, Professor Emeritus of English Language and Literature, and Professor Emeritus of Art and Design at the University of Michigan.
As a lecturer, he was extremely rehearsed, so much so that Leah Zeldes, taking his U of M science fiction class in the late 1970s, years after Larry Tucker did, could borrow all of Larry’s old books and find that Larry’s marginalia all still applied, complete to notes on Rabkin’s hand gestures.
