DeepSouthCon 17, was held July 20-22, 1979 by The Sons of the Sand in conjunction with GumboCon at the La Pavillion Hotel in New Orleans, LA. Attendance was 420. It was chaired by Justin Winston. Cliff Amos won the Rebel Award and Jo Clayton won the Phoenix Award. GoH: R. A. Lafferty.
