Clarion West Writers Workshop, which was created by Vonda McIntyre after she had attended the original Clarion, is an intensive six-week program for writers preparing for professional careers in SF and fantasy. She ran it for three years from 1971 before burning out.
It was resumed in 1984 by a different organizer and is still running.
It runs annually from late June through the end of July. The workshop is limited to 18 students per year. Each of the six weeks is instructed by a different professional writer or editor. The roster of guest instructors changes yearly.
