AWA (also AWAPA) was an APA set up in 1976 with an open range of topics. It became became increasingly radical and in 1978 kicked all the male members out, with members (of both sexes) forming Spinoff and Mixed Company.

It was organized by Victoria Vayne and Janet Small with Small serving alone as OE by late 1976.

AWAPA was suspected of bloc voting for the Hugos and the FAAn Awards.
