Windycon XXIV was a convention held from November 7-9, 1997 at the Hyatt Regency Woodfield in Schaumburg, IL. Guests of Honor: David Weber, Doug Rice, Charles Ryan, Tim Lane, Elizabeth Garrott. The toastmaster was Yale Edeiken, it was chaired by Ross Pavlac and the ISFiC Guest was Christian Ready. The theme was "Scots in Space."

The ISFiC Writers Contest winner was "Little Girl Lost," by David W. Crawford and Carol Johnson.

Chairman Ross Pavlac was hospitalized two days before the convention and died a few days later. His at-con duties were carried out by Rick Waterson.
