In 2001, Silver stood for southbound DUFF, losing to the husband/wife team of Patrick Molloy and Naomi Fisher.

Founder of the short-lived Midwest Fannish Conventions, Incorporated and Midwest Construction. Also founded ISFiC Press in 2004 and served as editor and publisher through the end of 2012. He served on the ISFiC board for a total of 6 2/3 terms, from 1998 to 2006 and again from 2008 to 2020. He was initially elected to complete Ross Pavlac's term following his death.
