Stanley Schmidt

(b. 1944)

Author and longtime editor of Analog, from 1978, when he took over from Ben Bova to the present. Editor Guest of Honor at Bucconeer, the 1998 Worldcon. As of 2012, Schmidt had the most Hugo nominations (34) without a victory — a string sadly broken with his win of the 2013 Best Editor Short Form Hugo. He also received a Committee Special Award from LoneStarCon 3.

In August, 2012 he announced his retirement having matched John W. Campbell himself for years as editor, and nearly matching him for number of issues edited.
