The Southern Fandom Confederation (SFC) was founded in 1971 at DeepSouthCon 9 in New Orleans as a club for Southern Fandom.

Irv Koch was a principal organizer. Meade Frierson was its first president, and gave the organization much of its shape through his frequent SFC Bulletins, SFC Rosters and larger SFC Handbooks. Meetings are held annually at DeepSouthCon.

The SFC gives lifetime memberships to winners of the Rebel Award and the Phoenix Award, lifetime achievement awards for a fan and pro, respectively, "who has done a great deal for Southern Fandom." The awards are given out by each year's DeepSouthCon.

Club 1971
This is a club page. Please extend it by adding information about when and where the club met, when and by whom it was founded, how long it was active, notable accomplishments, well-known members, clubzines, any conventions it ran, external links to the club's website, other club pages, etc.

When there's a floreat (Fl.), this indicates the time or times for which we have found evidence that the club existed. This is probably not going to represent the club's full lifetime, so please update it if you can!
