Leo Dillon
(March 2, 1933 – May 26, 2012)
Leo Dillon was an illustrator of children's books and adult paperback book and magazine covers. He did nearly all of his work with his wife Diane Dillon. In 50+ years they created more than 100 SF book and magazine covers together as well as much interior artwork. The Dillons won the Caldecott Medal in 1976 and 1977, the only consecutive awards of the honor, as well as the Coveted Balrog Award in 1992.
Leo and Diane Dillon were GoHs at the 25th World Fantasy Convention in 1999 and received the WFC Lifetime Achievement Award in 2008. They also received the Locus Award.
