Karen Joy Fowler is an American author of SF, fantasy, and literary fiction. Her work often centers on the 19th Century, the lives of women, and alienation. She was nominated for the 1988 Best Short Story Hugo and the 1998 Best Short Story Hugo. She is perhaps best known to the public as the author of the best-selling novel The Jane Austen Book Club that was made into a movie of the same name. She was one of the original proposers of the James Tiptree, Jr. Memorial Award.
