John L. Magnus, Jr. was a fan in the 1950s-1960s.
He was a member of The Cult, and The National Fantasy Fan Federation (N3F), and in 1953-1954, he edited the club's fanzine, The National Fantasy Fan.
In 1952 he began publishing a fanzine which was named SF for issues 1-8 (1952-53), Vamp (issue 9) and finally Varioso for issues 10-18 (1954-1958). In 1958, he published Rumble.
In the January, 1960, issue of Fantastic Universe/, he published an essay, "The Detroit Convention," with Forrest J Ackerman and others.
