(October 1, 1872 – May 23, 1957)

James Allen St. John was a Chicago artist and author. He is primarily remembered for his illustrations for the novels of Edgar Rice Burroughs, although he worked in many genres.

He taught at the Art Institute of Chicago and for the American Academy of Art. His most famous disciples were Roy Krenkel and Frank Frazetta.
