Westercon 74, "The Wild, Wild Westercon," was held July 1–4, 2022, at the Tonopah Convention Center, the Mizpah and Belvada Hotels, and the Mizpah Club Casino ballroom in Tonopah, Nevada. It was originally scheduled for July 2-5, 2021, but was moved year later when Westercon 73 was postponed to 2021 due to the Covid-19 epidemic.

Because Westercon 74 was expected to be small (being held in the middle of nowhere), the committee chose not to designate Guests of Honor, in order to devote the funds normally allocated for GoHs to the member hospitality area. But in October 2021, having received a grant from the Utah Fandom Organization, it announced that two Nevadans, Kevin Andrew Murphy and Myrna Donato would be GoHs.

The committee consisted of Chair: Kevin Standlee, Vice Chair/Hospitality Lead: Lisa Hayes, Treasurer: Bruce Farr, Facilities: Mike Willmoth, Website Planning: Cheryl Morgan, and Travel Coordinator: Sandra Childress, with other members David W. Clark, Lisa Deutsch Harrigan, Kevin Roche, and Andy Trembley.

It was bid for by Tonopah in 2021, which was sponsored by San Francisco Science Fiction Conventions Inc., and won over Phoenix in 2021 in the 2021 Westercon Site Selection at Spikecon.

It conducted 2024 Westercon Site Selection for Westercon 76.
