Sf and fantasy artist Tom Kidd was born in Tampa, Florida.

He has said that he attended college (Syracuse University) but learned mostly from observation, which he has called "the best training."

His art has appeared on the hardcover SF books Infinity Link (1984) and Sherlock Holmes Through Time and Space (1984), and on the paperbacks Earth Descended (1981) and Spacepaw (1982).

He has also had his art published in The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction.

Kidd is also a designer; his design work has been seen in films, theme parks, and figurines for many clients, including Walt Disney Feature Animation and Mayfair Games. He has exhibited work in several galleries, including the Delaware Art Museum and the NASA Future Art Expedition.

Awards, Honors and GoHships: He has had four Hugo nominations: 1985 Best Professional Artist Hugo, 1987 Best Professional Artist Hugo, 1988 Best Professional Artist Hugo, and 1990 Best Professional Artist Hugo
