Evidence[edit]

Peter appears to have been the only son of Max Planck's nephew Hermann Kranold.

A draft card says Peter Andreas Kranold was born April 15, 1926 in Sprottau, Germany (now Szprotawa, Poland) and lived at 624 So. Mariposa, Los Angeles as of April 15, 1944. He was still in LA in the 1950 census, although at that time he was a patient at Rancho Los Amigos, which shortly became well-known as a polio hospital. And he appears to have returned home to Germany some time after the 1955 kerfuffle, since Ancestry.com has a death record for Peter Kranold, Schriftsteller (writer), born April 15, 1926 in Sprottau, who died on March 27, 1965 in Laufen, Germany.

His parents both died of heart disease when he was around 16-17 years old, which is why his draft card lists his next of kin as his father's colleague Buell Gallagher.
