Ruth is a long-time member of The National Fantasy Fan Federation. She has served the N3F in many ways and held several offices, including president, election teller, bureau head, and keeper of the URLs. She has edited both The National Fantasy Fan and Tightbeam.

She won the club's Kaymar Award in 2006.
