Richie Benyo is a fan. He founded apa45 in 1964 and was the first OE, then immediately gafiated. He became a newspaper editor and was later well known as an editor of magazines devoted to running and health and as a marathon runner. He also published several memoirs and novels.

The second issue of his fanzine Galactic Outpost (1964) included the first publication of Philip K. Dick's story "The War With the Fnools", later published in Galaxy Science Fiction (1969). Benyo reprinted "The War With the Fnools" in Dipple Chronicle 2 (Jan/Mar 1972).
