Pocket Books produced the first mass-market, pocket-sized paperback books in America in early 1939 and revolutionized the publishing industry.
Its SF/fantasy line included several early classics in the genre, including Hilton's Lost Horizon (1939), Great Tales & Poems of Edgar Allan Poe (1940), Endore's The Werewolf of Paris (1941), Wollheim's The Pocket Book of Science Fiction (1943), Stoker's Dracula (1947), Frank's Mr. Adam (1948), |Healy's New Tales of Space & Time (1952), Leinster's Space Platform (1953), Wells' The War of the Worlds (1953), and Clarke's /The Sands of Mars (1954).
