Peter Soyer Beagle is an American pro writer specializing in fantasy. His best-known work is The Last Unicorn. He won the 2006 Best Novelette Hugo for “Two Hearts,” and The Lord of the Rings movie for which he wrote the screenplay was nominated for the 1979 Best Dramatic Presentation Hugo.

In 2019, he won a judgement of $332,500 for financial elder abuse, fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, and defamation against his ex-manager, and in 2021 regained control of his work.
