(December 4, 1886 – January 7, 1960)

Cover by Lawrence Sterne Stevens for Super Science Stories, April 1949.

Lawrence Sterne Stevens was an American artist who also signed his work Stephen Lawrence or just Lawrence.

Some magazine covers attributed to Lawrence were actually the work of his son Peter Stevens (1920–2001). The elder Stevens learned how to draw by working as a newspaper artist and did not begin drawing for the SF magazines until the early 1940s. In addition to his cover art, he did interior art for several prozines, mainly the Popular Publications chain.
