(1951 –)

Jonh Ingham was a fan originally from Australia and later resident in Canada, the United States, the UK and Japan. He was a fanzine editor and fanartist in the 1960s and 1970s although in the wider world he is best known as a music journalist and entrepreneur. His name is unsurprisingly spelled John Ingham in some fanzines

He was first active on the US west coast from 1968. Through fandom he met Greg Shaw and they created Who Put the Bomp!. Ingham's own fanzine was Twas Ever Thus and he contributed artwork to Beabohema, Energumen, Granfalloon and Starling.

He moved to London in 1972 where he continued to occasionally publish Twas Ever Thus. He also provided a cover for Stop Breaking Down. In Checkpoint #78 (January 1977, ed: Peter Roberts) he wrote about the developing punk fanzine scene:

With my innate fannish superior intelligence I am attempting to inject such concepts as 'the usual', mainly by putting my own zine out. This is called London's Burning, after a song by the Clash, to whom it's devoted. It's mostly collage & photo-montage, and the only thing wrong about it is that my first fanzine in four years has nothing to do with sf fandom. Somehow I can't envisage anyone besides Greg Pickersgill being interested in it, and even he would look at me oddly.

In Checkpoint #85 (Winter 1977) Roberts wrote that:

I've a selection of about fifty pieces of artwork from my own and Jonh Ingham's files that neither of us are ever likely to use.

He doesn't appear to have been involved in fandom thereafter. Wikipedia has details of his extensive other activities.

Ingham was the subject of chapter 24 ('The Punk Promoter') in Rob Hansen's Beyond Fandom.
