John Chapman was born in North Dakota and lived in Minot in the mid 30s when he started as a [[letterhack]] to the [[prozines]].  By 1937 he had oved to [[Minneapolis, MN]] and was active in the [[Minneapolis SFL|Minneapolis chapter]] of the [[Science Fiction League]] and then was one of the founders of the [[MFS]].  He wrote dozens of SF stories during the 40s and 50s.
