(March 10, 1922 – March 5, 2007)

Jack Agnew started reading SF in 1932, and was one of the founding members of the Boys SF Club in 1935. Later that year, he founded PSFS. As one of the Phillies, he attended the 1938 Philadelphia Conference, was active in Fantascience Sales Service in the ’40s, was a member of FAPA (and OE at the time of the Philadelphia Blitzkrieg), a member of the Philcon committee, and helped establish the Big Pond Fund, a forerunner of the Trans Atlantic Fan Fund.

He was primarily a fanartist and his artwork first appeared in Cosmic Tales. He contributed to other fanzines, including Fantascience Digest, SF Collector, and Fantasy Fiction Telegram. He was an editor of PSFS News.

Jack Speer suspected him of being the person who wrote under the penname of Vermyn Slinko.

He was a member of First Fandom and was awarded the First Fandom Hall of Fame award in 1998, along with two other PSFS members: Milton Rothman and John Baltadonis.

For an early short biography, see Who's Who in Fandom 1940, page 3.

He was 84 when he died, following complications resulting from heart surgery.
