Howard Fast

(November 11, 1914 -- 2003)

Howard Melvin Fast was an American novelist and non-fiction author who also wrote under the pen names E. V. Cunningham and Walter Ericson. He is probably best known for his novels Spartacus (1951) and The Immigrants (1977).

He also wrote SF, including the collection The Edge of Tomorrow (1961) and the novel The Hunter and the Trap (1967). Most of his short SF was originally published in F&SF.

Julius Fast was his younger brother.
