(???? -- October 26, 2018)

Harold Stein was a New York fan and filker who frequently provided technical support for filking at conventions. He maintained a comprehensive archive of recorded filk music that was bequeathed to the filk community upon his death from brain cancer. Other filkers who wanted their personal recordings to be preserved for the benefit of the filk community donated their recordings to his archives.

Harold frequently recorded live performances, distributing audio or video to the performers and donating recordings of rare performances for auction to benefit Interfilk. He also produced 24 filk albums over the years. For these albums, he often chose highlights of recent filk cons and noteworthy performances by recently deceased filkers. He was known for his ability to pick the best performances over a filker's lifetime, and for his ability to recognize performers by their voices, including performers from before his time, thanks to his deep familiarity with the entire repertoire of recorded filk music.

Harold was Honored Listener Guest at OVFF 34, but was unable to attend because of his illness. He was posthumously inducted into the Filk Hall of Fame in 2019.
