Ed Baker, a well-known Los Angeles fan in the 60's, had interests ranging from Esperanto, through Catholicism and Objectivism to Anarchy. He particularly objected to the Post Office as an immoral monopoly. He was found dead in his car in 1971, shot by an unknown assailant. His friends founded the Ed Baker Memorial Postal Conspiracy, in which a fanzine or other piece of fanmail is delivered through a chain of hands rather than through the U.S. Snail/Post Offal/Postal Disservice/etc. EBMPC is marked where the stamps and cancellation would otherwise go.
