Douglas E. Blakely, a Minneapolis fan, was a founder of the Minneapolis chapter of the Science Fiction League in 1936. When it fizzled, he, Ollie Saari, John L. Chapman, Arden Benson and Robert Madsen continued to meet informally over the next several years and formed the Minneapolis Fantasy Society.
