Grant began pro publishing with Grant-Hadley Enterprises in 1945 and founded a series of small presses, including Centaur Press in 1970 and culminating in the importnant small press Donald M. Grant, Publisher, Inc. in 1964. He published the fanzine Apollo in the 40s.
