Carol Pohl (formerly Stanton, later Wilson, née Carol Metcalf Ulf) was part of the New York/New Jersey sf community in the 1950s.

She married L. Jerome Stanton and left him, going to stay with SF writers Judy Merril and Frederik Pohl. When Merril and Pohl split up, Carol moved out with Pohl, becoming his fourth wife in 1953. Together, the Pohls had three children, and co-edited several books. They separated in 1977 and divorced in 1983.

Carol was born in Boston in 1927, and grew up in Bennington, Vermont, and Worcester, Massachusetts. She was a schoolmate of Lois Miles’ (aka Miss Science Fiction). When she left Pohl, she went to Canada for awhile, and ultimately moved to Monmouth, New Jersey. She married Stanley Wilson in 1989. She died in New Jersey in 2005.
