Born into fandom, Bruce Coulson was the son of BNFs Buck and Juanita Coulson, and accompanied his parents to many conventions from a young age. He was a member of ISFA and editor of ISFAnews during the 1970s. He was an avid player of RPGs and an accomplished GM.

Bruce grew up in Hartford, Indiana, and later lived in Columbus, Ohio, where he worked as a customer service representative. He was married twice, first to Lori Coulson, and at the time of his death, to Emily Vazquez-Coulson. He died of cancer.
