Black Mask was a detective fiction pulp magazine, published April 1920, until July 1951, for a total run of 340 issues.

Authors published in Black Mask who also wrote SF/fantasy include Erle Stanley Gardner, Raymond Chandler, Henry S. Whitehead, Cornell Woolrich, Frank Gruber, Ray Cummings, Donald Wandrei, Lester Dent, Murray Leinster, and Hugh B. Cave.

The magazine's most influential editor was Captain Joseph T. Shaw, who edited the magazine from November, 1926, until November, 1936.

A Comprehensive Index to Black Mask, 1920-1951, written by E. R. Hagemann, was published in 1982.
