Beresford Smith

(August 8, 1932 – April 18, 1984)

Beresford Smith was longtime fan from New Jersey who was a frequent attendee at conventions. His first convention was the 1961 Worldcon, Seacon, in Seattle, at which he beat Harlan Ellison in a fast a furious poker game. He was a corresponding member of WSFA.

Smith had a degree in electrical engineering from Princeton. He was married, for a time, to fellow fan Tamar Lindsay. He married his first wife, Barbara Kowalski, in 1957; Leslie Smith was their daughter.
