New York lexicographer Jesse Sheidlower is the creator and editor of the Historical Dictionary of Science Fiction and launched the Oxford English Dictionary Science Fiction Citations Project that preceded it.

He was also a language consultant for Amazon’s adaptation of Philip K. Dick’s The Man in the High Castle.

He supports his word obsession by moonlighting as a software developer, managing a tiny cocktail bar, working for an academic publisher and teaching writing classes at Columbia University.
