The publisher was Vincent McCaffrey/Avenue Victor Hugo, Boston, and the editor was Charles C. Ryan.

In addition to fiction, material published included articles, poetry, book reviews, a comic strip, and interviews. Authors included Arthur C. Clarke, Ray Bradbury, Hal Clement, Greg Bear, Alan Dean Foster, Brian W. Aldiss, Harlan Ellison, and Robert Silverberg.

An anthology of 12 stories from Galileo, titled Starry Messenger: The Best of Galileo, edited by Ryan, was published in 1979.
