Virgil Warden Finlay, an American pro artist, was best known for his detailed pen-and-ink drawings accomplished with abundant stippling, cross-hatching, and scratchboard techniques. He was occasionally known by the demolishism "/ Finlay" (Virgule Finlay).

His 1948 FFM cover for Theodora Du BoisThe Devil’s Spoon sold at auction for a then-record $70.

Reginald Bretnor named a drink after him, according to Karen Anderson in No Holds Barred: Champagne fortified with brandy.
