Also, furschlugginer (and other variants), a Yiddishism that came into fandom, as well as American English, via Mad Magazine. Fannishly, it mostly means “crazy” or “stupid,” as in, “I can’t get the hang of that ferschlugginer hitchie.”

A Mad-word; "a sort of clean dirty word". From Yiddish "far-schlogner", which we may translate "all beat up".

Alternatively Furschlugginer. A second possible derivation would consider it a portmanteau-wor from Ferschimmelt (moldy) and meschugginer (insane).
