(November 22, 1941 – April 22, 1971)

Edwin Joseph Baker (aka Ejobo in Esperanto), a 1960s Los Angeles fan, was such a zealous wearer of the Green Star (the Esperanto symbol) that as a member of The Cult he published Fantasy Rotator 116 (1962) entirely in Esperanto. (The Cult immediately found an excuse to drop him and several more to keep him out.)

He then contributed apazine Dubhe to N'APA (1962–1964?) — in English, but the issues and even volumes were numbered in binary (it is a binary star, geddit?).

He was a LASFS member, its librarian in 1961–2 and then treasurer ("and club program") in 1963 and 1964.

Ratatosk 44 (13th April 1967) mentioned "E. Joseph Baker ("Esperanto Eddie") left for his 6-month National Guard hitch".

His other interests ranged from Catholicism to Objectivism to Anarchy. He particularly objected to the Post Office as an immoral monopoly.

He was found dead in his car, shot by an unknown assailant. His friends founded the Ed Baker Memorial Postal Conspiracy, in which a fanzine or other piece of fanmail is delivered through a chain of hands rather than through the mails. EBMPC is marked where the stamps and cancellation would otherwise go.
