Douglas Adams

(1952 – 2001)

Douglas Noel Adams was an English SF writer, humorist, and dramatist.

He is best known as the author of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, which originated in 1978 as a BBC radio comedy before developing into a series of five books that sold millions of copies in his lifetime. The books also generated a television series, stage plays, comics, a computer game, and a feature film in 2005.

He won the Pat Terry Award for Humour in SF in 1980. He was Ghost of Honor at Loscon 42, Conjecture 2013, Balticon 42, and Demicon 16.
