David A. Cherry

(b. 1949)

An American sf artist working in games and cover art.

He was the Artist Guest of Honor at ConJosé, the 2002 Worldcon. He was nominated for the Best Professional Artist Hugo in 1989-1994, 1997-1998, and 2003, and for the 1988 Best Non-fiction Book Hugo.

He is a past president of ASFA (and did a lot to turn it into a viable organization) and led the effort to create the Chesley Awards. He is the brother of the C. J. Cherryh ("Cherry" is the original spelling of the last name of the family). He was educated as a lawyer, but after a time moved from the law into art.
