It's possible this was a hoax fan fund. The noted British fan artist, D. West did not want to stand for TAFF because he didn't want to travel to the US. Instead, Avedon Carol reports in File 770 43, p. 9 that he is "offering the D. West Fan Fund to send a fan to Bingley. The terms of this seem to be you can vote as often as you like as long as you send D. West money every time. You must also send your picture so that D. can approve you."
