Crypt was described by Price as "a bizarre miscegenation; half Lovecraft Studies rip-off, half humor magazine, a 'pulp thriller and theological journal'." Lovecraft scholarship was always important,, but it also included stories and poems, both reprints and new work. Its reviews covered genre books, films and games.
