(???? –)

Alex Berman is a Detroit fan, active since the 1970s. He co-founded, with Sid Altus, the small press Phantasia Press in 1978, when, after being unable to find a copy of L. Sprague de Camp’s Wall of Serpents, he got permission and reprinted the book. From 1984 until the press closed in 1989, Berman was the sole publisher/editor. He is still selling some of the books.

In mundane life, Alex is founding partner of the legal firm Berman & Kaufman, specializing in worker’s’ compensation cases. He was SFWA’s attorney for a time, and represented Damon Knight and Lloyd Biggle in a lawsuit against Harper & Row.
