A proposed science fiction media discussion group to be based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It was announced at the Closing Ceremony of Con 80 in 2017. Its first event was to be held in 2018.

As with panels at Con 80, scheduled discussions were to be face-to-face rather than online, but whereas the convention excluded fantasy, the plan for the discussion group was to include it, but exclude presentations focusing upon discussion of shows already catered for by clubs active in Melbourne. (For Star Wars there's Star Walking; for Star Trek, Austrek; for Doctor Who, the Doctor Who Club of Victoria; and for Firefly and Serenity, the New Melbourne Browncoats.)

At the end of August 2018, it was announced that there would indeed be a Sci-Fi Zone, but that it would not be as originally envisaged. In May 2019, it was launched as a talk show web series. However, there remained a club aspect; it was possible to join as a "Zoner". By August of 2020, the Sci-Fi Zone website was hosting three fancast series: Sci-Fi Zone, Talk Nerdy to Me, and Mos Eisley Monthly.

Club
This is a club page. Please extend it by adding information about when and where the club met, when and by whom it was founded, how long it was active, notable accomplishments, well-known members, clubzines, any conventions it ran, external links to the club's website, other club pages, etc.

When there's a floreat (Fl.), this indicates the time or times for which we have found evidence that the club existed. This is probably not going to represent the club's full lifetime, so please update it if you can!
