Roderick Ruskin Gaetz was a New Jersey high-school fan in the early 1940s who co-edited the Solaroids' clubzine Sun Spots.

The Gaetz family moved from Vancouver, Canada, to Seattle a few months after his birth, and then to Westwood, NJ, around 1934. "In 1938 I spent 11 months in Australia." This period is not exactly clear, he may have only left in 1938 and returned the next year (for example, spending an academic year). "Upon my return I found that every-body on Bogert Pl. [i. e. his residential community; this was given as de la Ree's editorial address for the Sun Spots] was reading s-f and belonged to the Solaroids", founded in June 1939. Some dating can be inferred from "I also joined, and the first S-f I read was The Bridge to Earth in Startling," i. e. September 1939 issue.

In Sun Spots #26 (Fall 1945, p. 3), Gaetz was listed among "Past Associate Editors" with the rank of Private (see War). In his later mundane (apparently gafiated) life, he seems to have been an engineer, credited in 1971 as one of two inventors on a Canadian patent owned by Uniroyal.
