Providence, Rhode Island, has a long history of fandom, particularly in connection with the horror writer H. P. Lovecraft. Lovecraft lived most of his life in Providence except for a few years in New York. Many local groups provide walking tours of Providence which includes Lovecraft's homes
The world's premier collection of Lovecraft's books and papers is housed at Providence's John Hay Library, at Brown University.
